When you click on search in webmail, the search should work normally unless it needs to be re-indexed. If it needs to re-index, you will receive an error about search results being unavailable temporarily. This happens on new mailboxes and mailboxes that have not had a search run, in webmail, for an extended period of time. (a few months usually) Re-indexing happens automatically upon seeing the error pop-up and typically takes from 15 minutes to 2 hours depending on number of messages in your mailbox and server load at the time.
